Welcome to Penwith Pilates
Pilates rewards us with an incredible way to develop physiologically and psychologically. Essentially it is an exercise system that develops our strength, suppleness, limbs, joint mobility, our stability and posture for life, as well as clarifying and stimulating the mind.
Its rewards are literally limitless.
Its genius designed exercises offer benefits to all of us.
I am most happy to be able to share all this with you.
Throughout our lives our bodies and minds are used day in and day out.
To remain healthy we depend on physical and mental stimulation as well as nourishment and exercise.
The fast pace lifestyle of modern culture has left most of us neglecting the work that we need to do for our body and mind.
It is thought that 90% of our population suffers from some form of physical pain due to irregular curvature of the spine. Not surprising when you think of the millions of people working in a stagnant position during their 9 to 5 work regime.
In Shambhala warrior tradition, (an ancient teaching from Tibet which is thought to have influenced the forming of Buddhism), students were taught body and mind synchronization through exercise and meditation to master the many challenges in life. It was thought essential in order to be content and happy.
Joseph Plates, (1880 – 1967), the founder of the Contrology Pilates system, also believed that, “To achieve the highest accomplishments within the scope of our capabilities, in all walks of life, we must constantly strive to acquire strong healthy bodies and develop our minds to the limit of their ability”.
